The Smart Age-Friendly Games Enhancer (SAGE): An AI Toolkit for Smart Age-Friendly Game Design

Activities such as puzzles and competitive sports bring immense joy and meaningful experiences that can offer numerous cognitive, physical and mental well-being benefits. However, a significant portion of 50+ year-old players face barriers that exclude them from engaging in these activities in the digital domain, whether due to technological inaccessibility, representational issues, or content mismatches. This oversight represents a significant missed opportunity, economically, culturally, and socially.

The Smart Age-Friendly Games Enhancer (SAGE) is a novel HCI initiative aimed at creating accessible, transparent, and ethical AI in gaming for older adults. This player-centered tool seeks to empower developers by seamlessly integrating adaptive, age-friendly features, enabling older players to easily identify personalized accommodations that enhance their gaming experience.

This project comes from the Games for Life team.
