Interested in data, code and design? Our STEM MFA+MS and Graduate Certificate degrees are accepting applications.

Apply now

The Information Design and Data Visualization program uniquely combines analytical methods with distinctive training in visual communication. Successful graduates gain expertise in the visual and technological languages of data, applying modes of visual cognition and using analytics tools to create interactive, data-driven communication and installations. Both our MS and MFA degrees are STEM-designated. This design-centric program prepares graduates to collaborate across a variety of fields and settings, crossing the bridge between technology, public communication and systems design. Our interdisciplinary program trains students to harness visual languages to investigate and communicate relevant issues, taking full advantage of the incredible breadth of research opportunities at Northeastern University. In addition, a Graduate Certificate is also offered. This website is our cohort’s digital sandbox, a space for updates about our activities, collaborations, events and projects in progress.

We welcome applicants from all disciplines and at all points in their professional careers. We encourage you to check out the collection of stories and students in here.

The Northeastern University Visualization Consortium (NUVis) is an interdisciplinary cross-university initiative to support the university’s research efforts in visualization and to connect faculty, researchers, and students across campus to foster a visualization community. Northeastern University’s interdisciplinary focus and structure is an ideal environment for such an interdisciplinary field of study, and the goal of NUVis, funded through a collaboration between the College of Arts, Media and Design and the Khoury College of Computer Sciences, is to continue to foster and grow this important area of research.
