Overview
The Makerspaces advance material exploration and innovation, supported by CAD, CAM, and digital and analog fabrication tools, building a strong foundation of knowledge in the tools, methods, and parameters of fabrication. Our main Makerspace, together with our other New Technologies Labs, is an incubator for innovation and collaboration with other colleges at Northeastern. Our resources support automated 2D cutting and 2.5D machining, 3D scanning and printing, vacuum-forming, molding and casting, and composites fabrication.
Resources
Our Makerspaces include:
• A main Makerspace for material exploration and innovation, and an incubator for innovation and collaboration, offering CAD, CAM, and digital and analog fabrication tools, including automated 2D cutting and 2.5D machining, 3D scanning and printing, vacuum-forming, molding and casting, and composites fabrication.
• A Laser Cutting Lab with additional CAM and automated fabrication tools for 2D cutting and etching.
• A Shop including fundamental analog tools and machines for fabrication.
Applications
Applications include development of physical prototypes and products, functional and representational.
