Yes. Grading is based on attendance and effort. Effort is demonstrated by how much time each student practices the weekly assignments given to them by their instructor. Instructors will inform you of their effort requirements.
All Northeastern students can register for music lessons
We offer lessons in a variety of styles (classical, popular, jazz, blues, rock, musical theater, etc.) for the following instruments:

Registration and Scheduling Lessons
Register for MUSC1901 (Music Lessons 1) or MUSC1902 (Music Lessons 2) through Northeastern’s registration portal.
After registering for the course, please fill out this form
Submissions should only be made after you are registered.
The lesson coordinator will contact registered students via email before and after the semester begins to find out which instrument/voice and style of lessons the student wishes to study.
Student/teacher assignments are made after receiving the requested information. Teachers will schedule lessons with their students directly and lessons typically start during the first week of the semester

About the Lessons
There are 15 lessons in 30-minute blocks; the equivalent of 7.5 hours total. Some teachers offer their students 10 lessons in 45-minute blocks as an alternative.
Students are able to register for lessons while also on co-op.
Lab Fees
Registered students will be charged a $695 lab fee that is added to their tuition bill. It takes approximately one to two weeks to see the charge.
The lab fee is used to compensate private teachers at a rate of $46 p/half-hour or $92 p/hour.
