To get a more in-depth perspective on what student life is like here at Northeastern, we decided to facilitate a CAMD Instagram takeover for one week with CAMD students. Take as many photos of what matters to you, whether that be a project, schoolwork, or just a sunset. If you’d like to takeover the CAMD Instagram, let us know by submitting your Instagram account to our email!
Kyle Bianchi
Kyle, @bianksy_, is a second-year graphic design major at Northeastern. We asked him a few questions to get a better idea of what the inspiration was behind the photos he took during his #CAMDtakeover.
1. What has been your favorite experience while at Northeastern?
My first three months of being a Northeastern student were by far the greatest moments I’ve had so far. I was lucky enough to be accepted into the N.U.in program and travel to Greece for my first semester. As a photographer, I was out exploring the city almost every day and took advantage of my new surroundings. I traveled to Rome, London, Athens, and Mount Olympus where I became closer with friends on the trip and experienced new cultures each day. The friends who I have made from Greece are some of my closest friends now and I couldn’t imagine not having gone abroad for my first semester.
2. What made you choose your major?
After being undeclared for a year and a half, I had experimented with a variety of courses: biology, chemistry, sociology, studio art, and architecture. However, nothing clicked with me as much as my 2D tools class, which taught me Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign.I had always been drawing while growing up and painting since my junior year of high school, so I decided that Graphic Design was the path for me. Many of my friends and teachers told me since I entered college to go down the arts path, but I needed some time to explore before I made the commitment.
3. What inspired the photographs that you took during the takeover?
I was lucky to have started the CAMD takeover on Marathon Monday, so I chose my first picture as a shot I had taken from last year’s marathon. My next photo was a great sunrise that I took from my room last fall and I had a good feeling people might enjoy seeing it. After that, I felt like I needed to get out on campus with my camera and take shots from the current week. With the great weather that we had, I was able to capture some great spring shots that I decided to post for my takeover.
