When he’s not hard at work keeping the department running, Theatre Operations Specialist Darren Evans is breaking new ground in the Boston arts scene as the Producing Artistic Director of Theatre on Fire.  This year, Darren is taking things to another level, by pushing other artists to push themselves.

In an interview with WBUR’s The ARTery, Darren explained, “I put out a call for artists to propose something that scared them, artistically.  Maybe it’s a piece they love but doesn’t fit with their mission or aesthetic, maybe it’s a work in development that they’ve never felt ready to share before, maybe it’s something they don’t know how to do, and only by actually jumping off the cliff and doing it will they be able to figure it out.”

Now the fruits of this challenge are onstage, ready for audiences, in what Darren hopes will be the first annual Cabinet of Curiosities Festival.  Read more about this year’s festival in The ARTery, and get tickets at www.theatreonfire.org/cabinet-tickets.
