Congratulations to Paula Martín Rivero, who was recently awarded a La Caixa Foundation scholarship. Rivero was one of just 100 students to receive this scholarship out of one thousand who applied; valued at 100,000 euros, it will give her the opportunity to continue pursuing post-graduate degree in the U.S.

La Caixa Foundation selects students based on a two-phase process. The first phase includes an intensive peer-review process by individuals with similar backgrounds as candidates. The second phase has professors from international universities review their applications.

Rivero is currently pursuing a PhD in Interdisciplinary Media and Design from CAMD. Rivero’s PhD work focuses on the use of language as design practice. She has previously completed a Masters from Complutense University in Madrid and an MFA from Parsons School of Design, the New School.

Started in 1982, the Caixa Foundation grant aimed to give Spanish students the opportunity to continue their education at the best universities in the United States. Since beginning the program, La Caixa Foundation has invested nearly 210 million euros in its recipients. You can read more about La Caixa Foundation and its mission here.
