Center for the Arts

The Center for the Arts is a learning laboratory where people come together to experience the arts. We organize and host interdisciplinary exhibitions, programs, and research opportunities that explore critical creative practice and the role of art in contemporary life. Through partnerships with faculty, staff, and community organizations, we aim to build a vibrant creative ecosystem within and beyond the university.

What we do:

  • Organize contemporary art exhibitions at Gallery360
  • Partner with faculty and students on events, class visits, and gallery tours
  • Support interdisciplinary creative research across the university

Research

The Center for the Arts fosters interdisciplinary research and community with the arts as a catalyst, through an annual Faculty Fellowship, as well as related programs and symposia.

Center for the Arts Faculty Research Fellowship

Research Fellows are faculty members across the College of Arts, Media and Design who are engaged in research, scholarship and creative activity in critical strategic areas for the College. Fellows are appointed for one-year terms and placed in interdisciplinary teams, where they develop and expand their research agendas and work toward securing external funding. Fellows engage with the CAMD community and the larger university environment through organized research events and informal discussions. They also serve as an informal advisory board to the Center for the Arts, and nominate and select prominent guests invited to campus as part of the Dean’s Distinguished Lecture Series.
