We currently invite applications and nominations for an open rank position, tenure-on-entry full or associate professor or tenure-track assistant professor, in information design and data visualization. We seek candidates with a substantial reputation and exceptional scholarship, in one or more areas within information design and data visualization, to join in growing a vibrant, innovative graduate program at Northeastern University in Boston.
The ideal candidate should have a strong track record in visual design, creative coding, published scholarship and excellent teaching. Evidence is expected of significant accomplishments using current and emerging computational media and methods, to reveal, interpret, analyze and present complex issues, concepts, narratives and data.Special consideration will be given to candidates who apply their creative scholarship to enlightening public discourse, engaging civic action and improving urban experience.
The successful candidate will contribute to interdisciplinary research within the College of Arts, Media and Design and across Northeastern University, whose strong research faculty are active collaborators in network science, digital humanities, urban informatics, big data and experience design.

Context:
New faculty will help lead our newly created MFA in Information Design and Visualization and the MFA in interdisciplinary art. These degrees are built upon a well-established undergraduate studio and digital arts program with an emphasis on bringing innovative interactive art and design into the public sphere. We also offer a BFA and MFA in Studio Arts with the School of the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston.
